Your submitted paragraph:
purinergic systems Those systems that use purine nucleosides or nucleotides in signal transmission in the nervous system, in the immune system, and in some epithelial and endothelial cells. In practice, adenine is the natural purine involved and the natural primary messengers are adenosine and adenine nucleotides. In 1972, ATP was proposed to be released as a NEUROTRANSMITTER from the terminals of certain purinergic neurons in the autonomic nervous system [1] and also as a co-transmitter, especially with NORADRENALINE (norepinephrine) or ACETYLCHOLINE. The receptors involved in these systems are known as purinoceptors.
