Your submitted paragraph:
interleukins Group of structurally unrelated proteins and GLYCOPROTEINS which act as intercellular signals mediating reactions between immunoreactive cells. The term has become more loosely applied recently as many interleukins are now known to have effects on diverse cell types such as lymphocytes, endothelial cells, epithelial cells, fibroblasts, and haematopoietic cells. The recent development of cell lines which both produce and react to interleukins has facilitated the identification of many different molecules and the application of gene cloning technology in this area has been particularly fruitful. Many interleukins are available in highly purified recombinant forms which has in turn allowed the definition of their cellular targets and mode of action in vitro.￾
